Terms and conditions for chess lessons 2020

REDUCED RATES IN EFFECT DURING CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK: Base lesson cost is now only $20. with all applicable discounts for package lessons available beginning March 15th/2020.

  • NOTE: Prices will be increasing July 1st/2019 to $30.00 for a 1 (one) hour lesson and $12.00 for every additional half hour thereafter in the same lesson.

  • Terms and conditions subject to change without notice.

  • Lessons must be paid in advance. If payment is received less than 24 hours before a class that class may be cancelled at the discretion of the head instructor.

  • Lesson prices are for one student and one parent or guardian for supervision provided that the parent or guardian does NOT interfere with the lesson. No instruction will be offered to the parent or guardian. In the event of parental interference a lesson plan may be cancelled.

  • Additional students may join and recieve instruction at a price of $15.00 per additional student. In the event of four or more students desiring lessons simultaneously they would switch from a private lesson to a group lesson plan.

  • Group lessons are four or more simultaneous students in a class. These groups consist of eight classes each totaling one hour in length. There is also an additional ninth class which usually entails a tournament with medals/ribbons at no additional cost. If not enough students are able to attend the ninth class would simply be a makeup for missed lessons. There are no cancellations for these group classes and the dates are fixed as agreed upon. The cost is $75.00 per student and groups are not larger than 8 maximum.

  • Single private chess lessons are $25.00 for one hour, and an additional $10.00 per half hour up to two hours. Additional fees may be charged for transferring money or if costs are incurred in the collection of lesson fees. The cost is irregardless of U.S or Canadian currency. In the event of a foreign currency an amount will be agreed upon beforehand.

  • Group lesson packages are available in amounts of four, eight or twelve lessons.

  • Single and package lessons are one hour in length. If a longer lesson is desired the package prices can be adjusted to meet the needs of the payer.

  • Single private lessons must be arranged in advance and a date and time agreed upon. There are no cancellations for single chess lessons except at the sole discretion of the lesson giver. In the event that a lesson is agreed upon and paid for but the lesson reciever does not fulfill their obligations the lesson will be lost and future lessons may be suspended. There are no refunds for single lessons.

  • Purchase of a group of four lessons in a package entitles the payer to a 10% discount and allows six weeks from the agreed upon start date to complete the four lessons. This allows for the eventuality that a lesson has to be cancelled or skipped. Cancellations of agreed upon lessons and times still require advance notice, as much as is possible. At the end of six weeks if the lessons have not all been used they are lost with no refund and future lessons may be suspended.

  • Purchase of a group of eight lessons entitles the payer to a discount of 15% and allows twelve weeks from the agreed upon time to complete the eight lessons. At the end of twelve weeks if the lessons have not all been used they are lost with no refund and future lessons may be suspended.

  • Purchase of a group of twelve lessons entitles the payer to a 20% discount and allows eighteen weeks from the agreed upon time to complete the twelve lessons. At the end of twenty weeks if the lessons have not all been used they are lost with no refund and future lessons may be suspended.

  • The lesson giver reserves the right to cancel a lesson at any time. In the event a lesson is cancelled in this way an additional week will be added to the length of the time allotment for package lessons. If no advance warning is given by the lesson giver an additional lesson will be added to your package at no cost.

  • No particular rating gain or result variance is guaranteed through these lessons.

  • Lesson plans will consist of time tested teachings which are fundamental to chess development. It is the perogative of the chess instructor to determine what is the best course of action in the administration of lesson plans.
